Anticosti is not just any destination. Recognized as an exceptional territory for white-tailed deer hunting, this island is becoming more and more popular among vacationers. Its striking scenery and diversified natural environment make it the place for very exotic discoveries! For more than a century, this island located at the mouth of the St. Lawrence has been attracting salmon fishing enthusiasts to the fabulous Jupiter River. Whether you come to hunt, fish or vacation, you will fall under the island’s spell!

The history of Anticosti Island began thousands of years ago. However, it was Frenchman Henry Menier who had the most profound impact on the island’s destiny. He acquired the island in about 1895 for hunting and fishing. Several major developments occurred while it was under his charge. For instance, we owe the presence of a large population of white-tailed deer to this chocolate maker, who introduced 220 of them to the island in 1896 and 1897.
