"Gaspésie's top fall event!"
Le Soleil newspaper, July 2006
For those who wish to feel the pulse of Québécois, Gaspesian and Acadian culture, Festival La Virée in Carleton-sur-Mer is the place to be!
Take advantage of Indian summer in the heart of the Chaleur Bay region to attend the intergenerational Festival La Virée. Young and old alike will enjoy this festival featuring over 30 traditional cultural activities (traditional music and dance, storytelling, traditional arts and crafts).
For the past twelve years, Festival La Virée has been showcasing Québec’s traditional arts through a rich program accessible to all:
- professional shows by traditional storytellers, musicians and dancers
- a public market with over 40 local artisans and food producers
- free workshops (fiddle, accordion, storytelling and singing), which give festival goers an opportunity to meet the artists
- exhibits and demonstrations of traditional fishing techniques and other traditional activities
The festival also offers youth-oriented programming and takes place in a colourful fall setting, between sea and mountains!
