The Mingan Island Cetacean Study (MICS) focuses its research on the ecology of four species of whales found in the Gulf of St. Lawrence: blue, humpback, fin and minke whales. Its interpretation centre combines both research and education. Biologists share their knowledge with the public on a daily basis, both at sea and in the interpretation centre.
Participate in a guided tour of the interpretation centre, where visitors are invited to find out more about the marine mammals living in the St. Lawrence. Certain evenings are reserved for presentations or slideshows. MICS also offers visitors the opportunity to accompany biologists on day trips and contribute to their data collection or take part in one-week research sessions as part of the research team.

Interpretation Sites
The Mingan Island Cetacean Study's interpretation centre combines both research and education. Biologists share their knowledge with the public on a daily basis, both at sea and in the interpretation centre.
Sea Excursions
Participate in a day trip at sea with MICS biologists. As you observe cetaceans in their natural habitat, MICS researchers and naturalists will share their knowledge of the species you encounter.
Whale Watching
The Mingan Island Cetacean Study (MICS) invites the public to participate in its research on marine mammals. Each year, MICS offers research sessions in the Gulf of St. Lawrence from June to October and in Azores, Portugal, in May.
Wildlife Observation
Our research sessions are the cornerstone of our public education programs. Each summer, those who are interested can join our biologists to participate in their research and observe the largest mammals on the planet.
