Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent

This contemporary art and ethnology museum will introduce you to the fascinating works of many renowned Québec artists and one of the largest collections of old photographs in Canada. In addition, the museum presents an interactive multimedia exhibit, Intersections. Old photographs and new technology come together in a dynamic presentation of the history of this region. Also, don’t miss Le Rêve d’Ulric Lavoie, an 8-minute movie about a blind photographer. Screened on a continuous loop in a room that has been set up to resemble an old photography studio, this movie is based on a dynamic photo montage from the museum’s collection, which includes 125,000 negatives. Another must-see is the project Publiqu’Art, a public art exhibit of sculptures in the city’s parks and green spaces.

Each year, the museum features about a dozen ethnological or art exhibits. It also has an Internet station giving visitors access to the www.cyberphotos.ca site and an 80-seat auditorium.
