Bas-Saint-Laurent

Bas-Saint-Laurent, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence Estuary, offers a multitude of winter activities that will appeal to outdoor lovers.

To commune with nature, visit Bic National Park, only 20 kilometres west of Rimouski. Snowshoeing, hiking and backcountry skiing are only a few of the ways to explore this landscape of capes, bays, islands and mountains. For an even more exciting winter experience, spend the night in a quinzhee (igloo-like snow shelter) or yurt!

Near Rimouski, you can also visit Domaine Valga, where you can stay in a log inn and take advantage of the snowmobile, snowshoe and cross-country ski trails. Discover the thrill of aerial trails in the nearby Forêt de Maître Corbeau park.

Bas-Saint-Laurent is also home to other enchanting spots, such as the Lake Témiscouata and Lake Pohénégamook sectors. Visit Pohénégamook Santé Plein Air and observe over 500 white-tailed deer, which come here to feed in the winter. Easily accessible by snowmobile, this resort offers a variety of lodging options, including rooms in an inn, condo hotels, cottages and country homes. Get away from it all as a couple or with friends or family and enjoy a multitude of activities in this ideal location: dogsledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ski sailing and more! For a unique and rejuvenating experience, don’t miss the Nordic baths.

Bas-Saint-Laurent is also the gateway for snowmobilers who want to explore Eastern Canada: this region is crisscrossed by over 1800 kilometres (1100 miles) of safe marked trails. Easily accessible by snowmobile, the downtown areas of both Rivière-du-Loup and Rimouski offer a multitude of lodging, dining and entertainment options.

In Bas-Saint-Laurent, you will find everything you need for an unforgettable stay!
