Where to Hike in Québec maritime

The maritime regions of Québec boast hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails that will take you through both urban and nature areas—you are sure to find some that will suit you! Consult the list of our tourism organizations for more details.

National parks

Many hiking trails are found in the nine national parks of Québec and Canada in our regions. These trails vary in difficulty and terrain, but all off spectacular outdoor adventures.

Regional trails

The regions of Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie, Manicouagan, Duplessis and the Îles de la Madeleine all offer hiking trail networks. Explore trails that meander through towns and villages, parks, the countryside or the forest and discover the hidden treasures of our regions.

Trekking

Visitors who are interested in longer hikes can explore the following trails:
  • The International Appalachian Trail crosses the Gaspé Peninsula from Matapédia to Cap-Gaspé in Forillon National Park of Canada.
  • The National Trail in Bas-Saint-Laurent starts in Trois-Pistoles and runs all the way to Dégelis.
You can also hike segments of these trails if you only want to take a short hike.

Guided hikes

Several companies in Québec maritime offer guide services, interpretive activities and baggage transportation during hikes. If you are interested in long-distance treks without the hassle of carrying your gear, consult our list of tourism organizations.

Highlights
  • Jardin des Glaciers (Garden of the Glaciers)

    The Maritime Adventure Park offers a network of 35 km (20 mi.) of hiking trails along 17 km (11 mi.) of coastline, as well as 10 maritime observation sites with interpretive panels on various themes such as the last glaciation.
  • Bonaventure Island and Percé Rock National Park

    Hikers can soak up island atmosphere along four trails totalling 15 km (9 mi.) on Bonaventure Island.
  • Bic National Park

    Some 25 km (16 mi.) of trails, including a long walking area along the shoreline, reveal the great beauty of this coastal park. The lookouts of Saint-Fabien and Pic Champlain offer unique viewpoints.

Percé: The Pearl of Gaspésie
