The Québec maritime website (www.quebecmaritime.ca) is operated by Le Québec maritime Inc. For more information about our organization, please visit the About Us section.

These Terms of Use describe the rules of conduct in the Québec maritime community. The use of this site is governed by these terms and by our Privacy Policy.

1. CREATING A USER ACCOUNT

User accounts are intended for private use, to allow you to use the tools offered on the Québec maritime site.

To create a user account, you must be at least 18 years of age and provide Le Québec maritime with the following information:

• A valid email address
• A password
• Your location (country and state or province, if applicable, as well as postal code)

This information is mandatory and allows Le Québec maritime to create, manage and protect your account. Providing your location is necessary for statistical purposes and allows Le Québec maritime to evaluate the number of out-of-province visitors who use this site and are interested in the maritime regions of Québec.

With respect to your account, you agree to:

• provide current information about yourself;
• keep your password confidential;
• notify Le Québec maritime immediately of any unauthorized use of your account;
• log out of your account at the end of each session by clicking on the “Log out” button appearing on every page of the site.

2. PRIVACY POLICY

Le Québec maritime is committed to protecting your personal and confidential information and ensuring your privacy online. Please read our complete Privacy Policy.

3. CONTRIBUTING PHOTOS, VIDEOS, RECIPES, TRAVEL STORIES, EVENTS AND COMMENTS 

All content submitted to this site, whether photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events or comments, must focus exclusively on your travel experiences in Québec maritime, must be true, and must be in English or French (if applicable).

You are responsible for the content you contribute to this site. You must own or have the intellectual rights to this content and have received all necessary consent from persons appearing in your photos or videos prior to contributing them to the site.

You must also make sure that the content you contribute complies with the normal rules of society. Before contributing to the site, ask yourself if you would allow your mother or a child to see or read your contributions. The same applies to your comments. Honesty is a good policy, but please be courteous and avoid making offensive comments.

You may delete any content you submitted to the site at any time by clicking on the “Delete” button located underneath your content in your account profile. Deleted content cannot be recovered.

4. CONTENT APPROVAL

Your username, profile picture and any content you contribute to the site, whether photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events or comments, as well as any changes thereto, are subject to approval by Le Québec maritime prior to appearing on the site.

Le Québec maritime reserves the right to delete inappropriate usernames, profile pictures or content, including obscene, racist, violent or defamatory content or any content that is unrelated to the purpose of this site.

Any illegal or forbidden content will be deleted immediately. Le Québec maritime reserves the right to delete your account at any time.

Le Québec maritime takes all reasonable measures to approve content in a timely manner.

5. REPORTING CONTENT

If you notice content on the site that is inappropriate or that violates these Terms of Use, please notify Le Québec maritime immediately by clicking on “Flag this photo” below the relevant photo or by emailing Le Québec maritime at webmaster@quebecmaritime.ca. Please include “Inappropriate content” in the subject line.

To report copyright infringement or breach of privacy, please email Le Québec maritime at webmaster@quebecmaritime.ca.

Le Québec maritime reserves the right to delete any content, including profile photos, that has been reported.

6. WEB AND CONTENT HOSTING

The Québec maritime site and content are hosted by Le Québec maritime and its partners.

7. COPYRIGHT LICENCE 

By contributing content, whether photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events or comments, to this site, you grant Le Québec maritime a worldwide, royalty-free, non-transferable and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, distribute and publicly display such content on the site. This licence is terminated as soon as the content is removed from the site.

Moreover, despite the non-transferable nature of the licence, the content you contribute on the site may be subject to a sub-licence to reproduce, distribute and publicly display such content in order to allow Le Québec maritime to use partners when necessary to host content under the responsibility of Le Québec maritime.

You warrant to Le Québec maritime that you own or have the intellectual rights to the content you submit to the site as well as the right to grant this licence to Le Québec maritime. You further warrant that the content you contribute does not violate other people’s rights or the Terms of Use.

8. DELETING A USER ACCOUNT

You can delete your user account at any time by clicking on “Delete My Account” in your account profile.

Le Québec maritime reserves the right to delete user accounts that violate these Terms of Use. It may also delete accounts for administrative or security reasons or if the accounts are inactive.

Deleting an account, whether done by you or Le Québec maritime, is final with no possibility of recovery. Once an account is deleted, all content submitted by the user is automatically deleted as well, including any votes and comments submitted by other users in response to your content.

9. FINAL PROVISIONS

Le Québec maritime reserves the right to temporarily suspend or terminate the operation of this site (www.quebecmaritime.ca) in whole or in part.

This site is not a service for hosting or storing your personal photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events or comments. You must therefore store your original files on another data storage medium as they cannot be retrieved or downloaded from the site.

Le Québec maritime is not liable for any loss or damage you may sustain from the use or non-availability of this site.

Le Québec maritime reserves the right to modify the Terms of Use at any time.

This site and its use are governed by the laws of the province of Québec. Any disputes arising in connection with the content or use of the site are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Québec, Canada.

PRIVACY POLICY
Le Québec maritime is committed to safeguarding your privacy and the personal and confidential information published on the www.quebecmaritime.ca site.

PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION
With the exception of the personal and confidential information collected during the creation of a user account to manage and protect the account, as well as other information collected automatically on the Québec maritime site, Le Québec maritime does not collect any personal or confidential information.

The Québec maritime site is a public space on the Internet. All site visitors, with or without a user account, can access and view content on the site. Consequently, Le Québec maritime recommends that you exercise caution when you post personal and confidential information on the site.

The site gives you the option of posting certain information in your profile as well as photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events and comments. This content may include personal and confidential information about you or other people or information that may identify you or other people. You must therefore carefully select any optional information that you include in your user account profile and any content, including photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events or comments that you choose to post on the site. If you do not want this optional information or content to be visible to all site visitors, do not post it.

You must obtain all the intellectual property rights and necessary consent from anyone in your photos or videos prior to posting them on the site.

Le Québec maritime is not liable for the publication of any information, photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events or comments that you choose to post on the site.

PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION COLLECTED TO CREATE USER ACCOUNTS
Personal and confidential information is requested when you create a user account on the Québec maritime site in order to manage and protect that account. The information requested is: a username, a valid email address, a password and your location (country, and province or state where applicable). Your location is necessary for statistical purposes and enables Le Québec maritime to evaluate the number of foreign visitors who use the Québec maritime site and have an interest in the regions of Québec maritime. You are required to keep this information up-to-date.

Of the information collected, only your username, your location (country, and province or state where applicable) and the date the user account was created are visible to all site visitors. The rest of the information required to create your user account can only be accessed by you and Le Québec maritime staff members who are directly involved in managing user accounts and site content. The personal and confidential information that you agree to provide to the site is protected in accordance with the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information as well as any other applicable law.

Once your user account is created, you may upload a user photo to your profile if desired. Should you do so, this photo will be visible to all site visitors. If you do not want your photo to be visible to all visitors, do not add it to your profile.

If you provide other information when you communicate with Le Québec maritime about the site, particularly with respect to reporting copyright infringement or breach of privacy, this information will only be used by Le Québec maritime staff members to respond to your request. Where applicable, the personal and confidential information that you agree to provide to the site is protected in accordance with the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information as well as any other applicable law.

OTHER INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY BY THE SITE
When you access the www.quebecmaritime.ca site, information is automatically exchanged between your computer, the site server and the servers of Google Analytics, a third party tasked with compiling statistics on site use.

The information exchanged includes:

• the domain name of your Internet service provider (ISP) and your IP address
• the type of web browser and operating system used to access the site
• the date and time of your site visit
• the site pages you visited
• the address of the site that led you to the Québec maritime site

This information exchange is necessary for the proper operation of the site. The information collected is kept for statistical purposes, namely to keep track of the number of visitors, the most visited pages and the technology used by Internet users. It is stored in data logs for site security reasons and used to compile statistics on site use. USE OF COOKIES
The Québec maritime site uses two types of cookies, namely temporary and persistent cookies.

A temporary cookie is required for technical and security reasons related to site navigation. This file is saved on your computer’s RAM and is deleted automatically when you leave the site. A temporary cookie does not contain any information that could identify you.

A persistent cookie is saved on your hard drive and contains information that can identify you and your computer. This information can only be read by the site and by Google Analytics to compile statistics on site use. You can delete persistent cookies using options in your web browser. However, please note that some of these cookies will be recreated the next time you visit the site.

DELETING USER ACCOUNTS AND CONTENT
You can delete your account at any time by clicking on the “Delete my account” option located at the bottom of your account profile. You may also delete any content that you have posted on the site at any time by clicking on the “Delete” option below the content in your account profile.

Deleting a user account or content is final with no possibility of recovery. Deleting an account leads to the automatic deletion of all photos, videos, recipes, travel stories, events and comments published by the account user and, where applicable, of elements that are associated with the account, including other users’ votes and comments.
