Motorcycling in Bas-Saint-Laurent – Basque Country and Highlands
Located along the St. Lawrence, Trois-Pistoles is the heart of Basque Country in Québec and is therefore known for its rich cultural and natural heritage. Take advantage of sea kayaking excursions, outings to Basques Island, craft shops, restaurants and more. From there, head east and then south to Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux—the bucolic scenery and view of Saint-Mathieu Lake are worth the detour.
Continue heading east on 2e Rang Est to Saint-Fabien and the community of Le Bic, where you will take Route 132 to reach Rimouski by the scenic route. In this area, the St. Lawrence creates a spectacular backdrop. Be sure to visit Parc national du Bic on the way by as well as museums, the lighthouse, a submarine and Barnabé Island. Rimouski is also home to a wide variety of other attractions and services.
Route 132 will then lead you to the village of Sainte-Luce, with its beautiful boardwalk along the largest beach in the area. Take the time to enjoy a leisurely stroll before heading towards Saint-Donat on Route 298. When you reach Route 234, head west to Saint-Gabriel-de-Rimouski and Saint-Marcellin. Enjoy the lovely views among the hills and valleys along the way.
Route 232 will take you from village to village to Squatec, one of the gateways to the latest addition to Québec’s network of national parks, Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata—a must-see! Finally, head back north on routes 295 and 293 to Trois-Pistoles via Sainte-Rita and Saint-Jean-de-Dieu.
