February 2011
I was lucky enough to win the Quebec Maritime snowmobile contest for 4 people last winter (2010-2011) to tour the Bas Saint-Laurent and Gaspesie Regions. Once I had my three friends and dates set; the Quebec Maritime tourism group looked after booking all the accommodations and the tour route. The four of us trailered from Southern Ontario to Pohenegamook to start our figure eight tour towards Cap Chat and then south east to New Richmond, to Amqui, to Rimouski and then back to our starting point of Pohenegamook. The tour was flexible enough for time we could pick our own side routes to travel and still be at our nightly accommodation in the late afternoon. Mileage for the tour was 1476 km. Our accommodations were excellent along with the food and the great Quebec hospitality. Highlights of the tour include, a night at Domain Valga, a lovely log cabin, multiple suspension bridges, trail 595 through La Cache, the snow ghosts and of course the beautiful maintained trails. Many thanks to the Quebec Maritime tourism group for an excellent trip and a well run contest. Sincerely, James Gray
